JURY RESULTS

We are pleased to announce that our jury process is complete and all photographers have been notified. We had 176 photos entered, and those were juried down to 73, representing 44 photographers.

New Venue and DIRECTIONS

For 2011, our venue will be at the Village Center at Windermere (Windermere Lodge) (4444 Front Nine Drive, Cumming, GA) in South Forsyth County. This new venue will offer better parking, more room, one level and a warm, lodge-like ambiance.

DIRECTIONS From GA 400. Exit GA 400 at exit 14 (GA 20) going EAST. Go 3.8 miles and turn right on Windermere Parkway. Go 1.4 miles to the second light and turn right on Front Nine Drive. Go 100 yards, look for the swimming pool on your right. The lodge is behind the swimming pool. Turn right on Village Center Lane to the lodge parking lot.

From GA 20 EAST. If you are coming from the east (Buford, Sugar Hill, etc) go west on GA 20 until you get to Windermere Parkway. Turn LEFT on Windermere Parkway and follow the directions above.

From GA 141 - Peachtree Parkway Go to Sharon Road. There is only one way you can turn. Just after Sharon Road becomes Old Atlanta, turn left on Windermere Parkway. Go to the fourth light, which is Front Nine Drive. Turn LEFT and follow the directions above.

Juror and Judge

Our juror and judge this year is Larry Winslett, a well-known Atlanta area nature photographer who has specialized in photographing the Southern Appalachian Mountains. His work has been featured in many publications and is on permanent display in four exhibits at Stone Mountain Park. He is the author of several books, and schedules a full year of seminars and photographic excursions. Read more about Larry at www.larrywinslett.com/index.htm

The Theme for 2011

"Visions of The Southern Appalachians" We actually decided on this theme before talking to Larry Winslett. With his photographic experience in the Southern Appalachians, this will be a very good fit.

The idea behind this theme is to create images that tell a story of the Southern Appalachians - images that give the viewer an idea of what the Southern Appalachians are all about. Images may be landscapes, people, animals, buildings, or nature. Your image may be of something old or new, just as long as it connects the viewer with the Southern Appalachians. Geographically, images may be taken from the northern, mountainous parts of Georgia (Including Forsyth County), Alabama, South Carolina up to and including Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky.

Framing Considerations

Please notice the framing requirements specified in the Call for Entries. To ensure a consistent appearance to the show and a level playing field, framed prints must be in a black frame with a white mat covering the mat and photograph. Glass or professional Plexiglass must cover the mat and print. Unfortunately, frames not meeting these requirements cannot be accepted. Frame Size Our hanging system limits us to a photograph being no more than two feet wide. Height is not a problem.
