The Sawnee Artists Association (SAA) was founded in 1974 and continues to serve the Forsyth County community as a 501 (c)(3)- 509(a)(2) non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide enriching visual arts experiences for the community.
As part of that mission, the SAA opened the Hamilton Gallery at the Sawnee Cultural Arts Center in September 2002. The Hamilton Gallery closed in October of 2005 with the sale of the SCAC to Forsyth County. In November of 2006, the Sawnee Artists Gallery opened in the events room of the Humpus Bumpus Bookstore thanks to owner Paul Cossman.
The SAA also organizes shows and exhibits throughout the year, including the annual Bellezza Exhibit in the fall.
The SAA also awards scholarships to promising Forsyth County high school senior art students every spring.
